Concentration is the other important parameters for a shaving die. Only when it’s small enough, the shaving die can perform well in wire shaving. First of all, the hole should be in the central of a PCD or tungsten carbide coer. Then the core should be in the middle of the shaving die’s case.
When making the shaving dies, we usually control the hole drilling and casing processes strictly to ensure a good concentration for a shaving die.
If the wire is hard or its diameters is big, tungsten carbide shaving dies will be a best choice because their good toughness and wide sizes range. For example, it’s better to shave the 9.0mm steel wire by a tungsten carbide shaving dies.
For many samll sizes copper , aluminum welding wries or alloy wires, PCD shaving dies will have better performance in efficiency and service time.
The diameter reduce of wires can not be very big to avoid the shaving die’s shaving performance and service time.
Generally speaking , it’s usual to shave off 0.02mm-0.03mm from the original wires by shaving dies.
