PCD Blanks with Different Characteristics

Seeing from support and binder, there are following 4 kinds of PCD blanks.

Solid PCD Blanks
Solid PCD Blanks

Solid PCD blanks are usually round small PCD cut by a big piece of solid PCD . They are used to make small diameters PCD dies.

PCD Blanks with Tungsten Carbide Rings

Supported PCD blanks have a tungsten carbide ring to support the solid PCD. They can be used to make PCD dies for hard wires.

PCD Blanks with Metal Binder
PCD Blanks with Metal Binder

This kind of PCD blanks contain metal binder, for example cobalt , which makes the blanks conductive in dies making.

PCD Blanks without Metal Binder

Binderless PCD blanks have no metal binder inside. They are more abrasive resistant to make dies for very hard wires.

PCD Blanks with Different Sizes and Grain Sizes

According to PCD dies diameters and applications, the manufacturers usually choose PCD blanks with different sizes and grain sizes.

  • Small Size PCD Blanks
    Small Size PCD Blanks

Small-size PCD blanks are usually used to make PCD dies for thin wires.

  • Big Size PCD Blanks

By now, the biggest PCD blank in China is PCD diameter of 40mm X thickness of 25mm.

  • PCD Blanks with Different Grain Sizes

According to different micro structures of PCD, there are generally 1, 3, 5, 10, 25, 50 micron grain sizes for PCD blanks.

Full Ranges of PCD Blanks

From PCD diameter 3.0mm to 45.0mm, HG have full ranges of PCD blanks to make wire drawing dies for wires, tubes & bars. You can also choose PCD blanks with or without tungsten carbide rings, with or without binders here.

Full Grain Sizes of PCD Blanks

Small (3,5 micron) , medium (10, 25 micron) and big (50 micron) grain sizes PCD blanks are all available. Small grain sizes PCD blanks have greater intensity to make the wire surface smooth. Bigger grain sizes PCD blanks are more abrasive resistant to make the PCD dies have longer service time in wire drawing.

If you need, mixed grain sizes are also available.

Strict Quality Control of PCD Blanks

Before making wire drawing dies, every piece of PCD blank was inspected on both appearance and inner structure. Besides checking if outer specifications are passed, scanning electron microscope (SEM) will check if the micron structure of PCD is good enough to make PCD dies.

Where are the PCD blanks from?

They are first-class PCD blanks manufactured in China.

How many kinds of PCD blanks do you have?

There are TC supported and self supported blanks, PCD blanks with or without binder and PCD blanks with different grain sizes.

How shall we choose PCD blanks to make PCD dies?

You can choose PCD blanks according to the wires and diameters.

What are the difference between TC supported and unsupported PCD blanks?

TC supported PCD blanks can provide more support to the blanks and the dies will have longer life time in wire drawing.

What are the difference among different grain sizes of PCD blanks?

Small grain size blanks have stronger intensity and big grain size blanks are more abrasive.

What are the difference between PCD blanks with and without binder?

Compared with PCD blanks with binder, binderless PCD blanks can bear high temperatures so the dies can draw very hard wires.

Will you recommend proper PCD blanks for us making PCD dies?

It’s no problem.
